A PHD another journey for success,

But within the journey,

Many untold horrors deter those,

Who wish to have a PHD,

This journey though,

With many unknown obstacles in your path.

If you are of determined mind,

Indeed you shall find,

At the end of the road,

Of your long and tiring journey

 Is the warm and happy feeling of success,

 The feeling of one’s dream fulfilled.

Though the stress, migraines and depression,

Of taking a course for a PHD,

Is most certainly frightening,

All seem able to crush one’s dream of being academically qualified,

But the light at the end of the seemingly endless dark and dingy tunnel,

Draws ever nearer with every word you write,

And every message put across in a PHD.

Brings you to your goal in life,

To take what you have learned,

Mould your wings of life and flight,

  Fly to be free to use the knowledge,

 Acquired and put it in context,

In your continuing journey in life.
